The holiday centre Černá v Pošumaví lies in the attractive region on the bank of the Lipno Dam on the border of the Protected Landscape Area Šumava (Bohemian Forest) about 20 km south-west of the town Český Krumlov, 730 m a.s.l.

The first mention of the village dates back to the 13th century. The finding places of the graphite were found here at the beginning of the 19th century. Graphite was mined here till the construction of the Lipno Dam.

The Pseudo-Romanesque Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was built in the square between 1901 - 1904. The Renaissance mansion in the village originates from the second half of the 16th century.
