Ruins of the Velešín castle lie on the right bank of the Malše river about 1.5 km east of the small town Velešín.

The castle was founded in the 13th century by the King Premysl Ottakar II. From 1387 it was a property of the Rožmberks. In 1487 the castle was abandoned and it quickly became a ruin.
The castle had two parts - the outer part was divided from the inner part by two moats. The inner castle comprised a tower and a residential palace.
Only the remains of the moat, of the Romanesque chapel and of the tower have been preserved up till present.

The access to the ruins is possible from the settlement Sedlce (about 1 km from the small village Svatý Jan nad Malší in the direction of Velešín). The unmarked field road leads from the restaurant in this settlement (about 1 km).
