The remains of the Kašovice fortress stand on the hill above the meander of the small river Ostružná near the small village Kašovice about 6 km north-west of the town Sušice.

The fortress is first mentioned in 1341 as a residence of Sezema of Kašovice. After the Hussite Wars it became property of the Velhartice castle. Since the 16th century it has been abandoned and dilapidated. Due to its isolated location outside of the village it was not used as a grannary as usual but it became ruins.
