The protected area Hojná Voda lies about 4 km south-east of the small village Hojná Voda in the Novohradské Hory (Nové Hrady Mountains) on the slope of Vysoká mountain (High - 1,033 m). The small village Hojná Voda is situated about 7 km south-west of the town Nové Hrady.

The remains of the original cold rainforest can be seen in the reserve. Mostly beeches, spruces and firs grow here. This small area (8.5 ha) is protected by UNESCO as well.

The reserve was declared together with near nature reserve Žofínský Prales (Žofín Forest) in 1838 by Jiří Buquoy. The memorial plaque to the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the reserve was set on the stone near the road.

The instructional trail of the same name passes through the reserve.

Access to the protected area is possible along the circular red marked path, which leads from Hojná Voda around Vysoká mountain (about 4 km).
