The small village Chelčice is located about 3 km south of the town Vodňany, 457 m a.s.l.

The village is a well-known birthplace of the important thinker and religious reformer Petr Chelčický. The statue on the small square commemorates him.

The originally Romanesque St. Martin's Church originates from the first half of the 13th century. It was rebuilt into the Baroque style in the 17th century for the first time, but many later reconstructions covered the original appearance.
