The centre of the Old Town is the square with the Renaissance town hall from the second half of the 16th century and with the Marian column from 1716. The Zlatokorunský Dům (House of the Golden Crown) in its southern part is first mentioned in 1309. The originally Jesuit college, built by Baltazar de Maggi in 1588, stands not far from the square in the Horní Ulice street and the Early-Baroque Jesuit seminary from the middle of the 17th century stands on the opposite side of the street.
The dominant feature of the Old Town is the dean's St. Vitus' Church. It towers on the bank of the Vltava river and it is one of the most significant buildings of the South Bohemian architecture before 1400.
